OpenComputer better than Apple?

The new Pystar open computer has come out and has become really popular… but is it better than the new iMac? With a price of only $399.99, and offers various OS’s, it seems like the perfect computer, but is it?

Let’s look at the facts.

What does the OpenComputer come with? All I know is that it does not come with monitor or keyboard and that there are some nice specifications!

Remember, these are the SIMPLE specifications. We’ll go into detail soon.

  • Intel Core2Duo processors
  • up to 4GB of RAM
  • 250GB 7200RPM SATA drive
  • DVD+/-RW
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • “Screwless” and Silent chassis

Look! 400 bucks for a 250 GB hard drive, and also the fact that the iMac comes with 250 GB and is $1200!

Now for the all “new” iMac. A good desktop, but does it have what it takes to overpower OpenComputer?

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 1GB memory
  • 250GB hard drive1
  • 8x double-layer SuperDrive
  • ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory

Hm… this is for the $1200 iMac, and the OpenComputer is 400… it looks a little better, but most people think it is not worth it.

Now, this is only the Hardware, but what about the software?

OpenComputer:

Ubuntu Linux 8.04 included- Interesting… but why did it say that OSX is pre-installed when only Ubuntu linux 8.04 is included?

Windows XP Pro- $149.99

Vista Home Premium- $99.99 I can tell why it is so cheap! NO ONE WANTS VISTA! Vista was, no… is still Microsoft’s WORST OS version they have ever made.

Mac OSX Leopard- $155.00 Ahem… its supposed to be pre-installed/
Thats not everything, but just the things to focus on.

iMac-

Let’s see… the iMac comes with only one OS

MAC OSX LEOPARD (10.5)

Now, if you’re to say that you would rather get and OpenComputer than an iMac, I would 1/2 agree with you. I prefer both… remmeber, what computer to buy is 100% your choice.
